Well, today I'm lifting the veil and sharing my personal backstory, along with my tried-and-true at-home skincare routine that has kept my skin youthful and radiant over the years.

Growing up, I was always fascinated by skincare and makeup. My journey into the world of esthetics began as a teenager, experimenting with homemade face masks and formulations in my quest for flawless skin. Alongside my love for skincare, I also had a passion for makeup. One thing I always made sure to do, even back in those days, was to clean the makeup off my skin every night. I religiously followed this routine, coupled with moisturizing before bed. Additionally, I adopted the habit of wearing large sunglasses every day to cover the delicate eye area and protect my skin from squinting, a practice I continue to this day.

Over the years, I honed my skills, earning certifications and mastering various techniques. But perhaps the most valuable lessons I've learned came from my own experiences and experimentation with different skincare regimens.

Now, as I approach fifty, I've refined my skincare routine to include a blend of holistic ingredients and proven techniques that are both effective and accessible. Let's delve into the details of my daily regimen and the secrets behind each step:

Morning Routine:

  1. Cleansing: Start your day by washing away impurities with a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type. This sets the stage for a fresh canvas and ensures that your skincare products can absorb thoroughly.
  2. Toning: Restore balance to your skin's pH levels with a natural toner like rose water or witch hazel. This step helps tighten pores and prep your skin for the subsequent layers of skincare.
  3. Serum: Incorporate a vitamin C serum into your routine to brighten your complexion and defend against environmental aggressors. Vitamin C is a powerhouse ingredient known for its antioxidant properties and ability to boost collagen production.
  4. Moisturizing: Hydration is key to plump, youthful skin. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer to nourish and replenish your skin, helping to maintain its natural moisture barrier and overall health.
  5. Eye Cream: Treat the delicate skin around your eyes to a hydrating eye cream infused with ingredients like caffeine or hyaluronic acid. These ingredients work wonders in reducing puffiness and fine lines.
  6. Face Massage Techniques:
    • Under-eye Massage: Using your ring fingers, gently tap the under-eye area starting from the inner corners and moving outwards. This helps in draining excess fluid and reducing puffiness.
    • Ice Roller Massage: Keep an ice roller in the freezer and use it in the morning to massage your face gently. Focus on the under-eye area to constrict blood vessels and reduce puffiness.
    • Gua Sha Massage: Use a Gua Sha tool made of jade or rose quartz to massage your face. Start from the center of your face and move outwards in upward strokes. Pay special attention to the under-eye area to reduce puffiness and promote lymphatic drainage.

Evening Routine:

  • Double Cleansing: Remove the day's impurities by double cleansing with an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser. This thorough cleansing ritual ensures that your skin is clean and prepped for the next steps.
  • Exfoliation: Renew your skin's surface with a gentle exfoliator 2-3 times a week. This step sloughs away dead skin cells, revealing a smoother, more radiant complexion.
  • Masking: Treat yourself to a hydrating or anti-aging mask once or twice a week to address specific skincare concerns. Whether you're in need of extra hydration or firming benefits, there's a mask out there for you.
  • Serum: Apply a targeted serum containing potent ingredients like retinol or peptides. These powerhouse ingredients work overnight to target fine lines and promote skin renewal.
  • Moisturizing: Seal in moisture with a rich, nourishing moisturizer before bedtime. This step ensures that your skin stays hydrated and supple while you sleep, aiding in overnight repair and regeneration.
  • Eye Cream: Show some love to your under-eye area with a nourishing eye cream formulated to combat signs of aging. Using your ring fingers, pat gently around the eyes to hydrate and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Consistency is key when it comes to skincare, so make a commitment to yourself to stick to your routine day in and day out.
